Mission
At PS 91, our mission is to foster student success through rigorous, research-based instruction, hands-on learning experiences, and targeted MTSS intervention. Supported by continuous instructional coaching and active family partnerships, we cultivate a safe, inclusive environment where all children are equipped for academic excellence and future success.
Vision
At PS 91, we envision a welcoming school community where every student feels valued, excited to learn, and empowered to explore literacy, mathematics, the arts, and the world around them as lifelong learners.
Instructional Focus
To realize our mission and vision, PS 91 will focus on strengthening instructional systems that ensure every student has access to rigorous, standards-aligned learning and timely intervention. Our work is grounded in the District's Call to Action and centered on four priorities:
1. Ensure High-Quality Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 Instruction
Implement research-informed literacy practices, including daily decodable text instruction in K–2.
Strengthen mathematics instruction by aligning daily tasks to the Next Generation Learning Standards while addressing unfinished learning through targeted intervention.
Provide differentiated Tier 2 and Tier 3 supports through a responsive MTSS framework.
2. Establish and Sustain Effective MTSS Structures
Implement schoolwide MTSS protocols to identify, monitor, and respond to student needs.
Use iReady, Acadience, ROAR, formative assessments, and progress monitoring data to drive instructional decisions and intervention planning.
Ensure every intervention has a measurable action plan and regular review cycle.
3. Build Staff Capacity Through Coaching and Professional Learning
Strengthen teacher practice through instructional coaching, actionable feedback, collaborative planning, and ongoing professional learning.
Use learning walks, data conversations, and Problems of Practice to improve instructional consistency and student outcomes.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement where educators learn from one another and refine instructional practices.
4. Build Strong and Informed Family Partnerships
Partner with families by maintaining clear communication about student progress and instructional goals.
Provide meaningful opportunities for families to engage in literacy, mathematics, financial literacy, and college and career readiness initiatives.
Celebrate student learning through performances, showcases, student spotlights, and community events that strengthen home-school connections.
